Post Fundu complications

My doctor has recommended the Nissan procedure for my hiatal hernia and GERD. I was somewhat alarmed when the doctor stated that, after the operation, I would not be able to belch or vomit ever again.

Although I do not derive a large amount of pleasure from exercising either of these bodily functions, I am concerned that by giving these up, I will be trading acid reflux for something equally uncomfortable.

Is this a common result of the surgery? Could the doctor be purposely tightening the wrap a little extra, to achieve a higher success rate at reducing the reflux, thus causing these post operation side effects?

Thank you!
