The symptoms that you experience may not be from the acid of the material that is refluxed. PPI's only stop the acid production. Some individuals will have bile reflux or basic gastric juices. Your symptoms may be the contact of these fluids with the esophagus. When you ask what to do after trying PPI's and a fundoplication doesn't work, does that mean that you had a fundoplication? If so, the reason why your surgery didn't stop the reflux needs to be investigated and corrected. The operation should prove effective in the vast majority of people.
