Concerned about time-frame...

I continue to be concerned that I may have a case of chronic gastritis. While my reflux seems to be under control, and has been for a couple of months now, my stomach continues to be quirky and upset on a daily basis. Neither eight weeks of Prevacid, nor continued treatment with Zantac have made any difference. Neither has going without acid suppressors. I'll eventually have to have an endoscopy done, I realize that, but I'm just wondering, if I do have a gastritis that won't go away, how long would it take to deteriorate into atrophic gastritis, or something worse? I tested negative for the Helicobactor Pylori, but I know that that might have been a false negative, so should I also ask my doctor to treat with anti-biotics first? I haven't thrown-up once since all this began in late February, and I am able to eat fairly normally-- my appetite is just not what it was before. Does this even sound like gastritis, or could it be something else?
