I had fundoplication surgery 6 months ago and was eating solid food by day number three. It took about three months for all of the spasms to go away, particularly when eating really hard foods like uncooked vegetables but it was well worth it - a little discomfort is a lot better than being sick all the time! So just hang in there and know that it gets better each day until you just don't notice it anymore.
