I don't see that the exact amount of salt that you take each day is critical. Too much salt is unpleasant, or in fact can raise your blood pressure. Can you monitor your pressure? It would be wise to do so, because of your condition.

Potassium-rich foods or a little diet-salt (potassium chloride) can allow you to take more regular salt. In fact, you may find that diet-salt lowers your blood pressure, though this is not always true.

It would be nice to be able to take 1/4 teaspoon of salt once or twice a day. But that will depend, and you must be the judge. Don't be a hero; the recovery and healing will take a number of months in any case, so be patient. On the other hand, we're talking about a food here, after all.

I had GERD for a little over a year. The account in my letter to the doctors is pretty much it. At its worst in January 1999 it was plenty bad.
