I've been taking Prevacid in varying doses since July...I also take Librax and I can't seem to get off of them every time I do I have a major flare up which gets me back on the drugs at full strength. My son is now 4, and I didn't suffer from reflux the way I do know but I was the Queen of Tums when I was pregnant. I use to go thru a bottle 96 a week..all that calcium...No wonder my son weighed in at 10 lbs,-4ozs. I must admit the heart burn did go away for about a year after my pregnancy....But then I started to have Gall bladder Problems....I was loaded with Gall stones...The surgeon said that small women who have extra large babies like I did, often do have gallbladder problems and that it can take 1-2 years post pregnancy to manifest it self. Apparently when you get as big as I did [I gained about 75 lbs] The gallbladder ducts will kink shut leaving all that junk in there to ferment, if your lucky afterwards things get up and running again but in my case things didn't So I needed to have it out which by the way was no big deal, Same day surgery/Laser. The surgeon also said that it depends on when it shuts down in the pregnancy the earlier the less chance of it functioning properly again. Do yourself a favor and find an obstetrician who knows something about your condition now.Try not to gain to much weight like I did although I must say I didn't try to gain all that weight , it just happened, I had major citrus cravings which I now know probably was a big contributor to my heart burn, I also craved rice pudding of all things I had never eaten it before and I might add the mere sight of it now turns my stomach! So good Luck, Motherhood is wonderful despite all the pregnancy discomforts...Just watch the Heartburn triggers, Keep sleeping on that wedge and find an obstetrician that understands the problem or one that will work with your gastro-doc. to keep you as comfortable as possible...Best of luck to you!
