Thank you, Ed. I had this thing for the first time 2 years ago, I though I was falling apart because I had every symptom in the world. I lay on the couch ready to die. As soon as I had diagnostic showing everything is ok, pains moved elsewhere! Started in lower abdomen: blood tests, ultrasounds show all ok, pain goes into upper stomach. That settles, get esophagitis. My GP rolled her eyes on my 4th visit and prescribed Paxil, and then I got REALLY depressed and was determined to kick this thing in the butt.I was afraid that Paxil will control ME instead of my "disease", and I won't even know if and when I am better. With my boyfriend's support, I garnered strength to fight this idiotic progression with my mind ( and Losec!).After 2 sessions with my psychologist (left over from a divorce), I went back to my exercise classes and the whole GERD thing melted away (I wound up then with TMJ, but was able to "talk" myself out of it, clicking jaw, crazy headaches and all, of course not before I saw a "specialist" who said I need a jaw alignment, a retainer for sleeping, etc. Forget it!). I had total health for 2 years, now GERD returned more stubborn (2 months already), my psychologist is on a sabatical in Israel, and the left side of my brain is battling the right side of my brain: I'm healthy/I'm dying. So make that one point for psychoanalysis! I just hope this time I can do it on my own, or I have to book a flight to Tel-Aviv.
