Re: On to More Specialists......note to W BoltonFrom: MMN CommentsNo one {I'm on my third Gastro-DOC ]has even mentioned surgery to me...As I've referred to in my previos posts ,I'm not convinced that they truly know exactly what my problem is yet, except that I have Refux, esophageal spasms and scarring, as per the Endoscopy. I am having a pelvic and abdominal CT scan on Tues. So I am hoping that they get more info from that. I do wish that they would do an upper GI as it seems like they have looked at everything {internally} but the small intestine. They can't do the CT scan with contrast because I 've had anaphylactic reactions in the past. One was to an allergy shot by the way. I am allergic to iodine and shell fish. so it is not recommended that they use contrast. I've been told that they may also need to do an MRI if the CT doesn't give them enough information. Regarding asthma, I have noticed that mine is so much better since my reflux was diagnosed and I've been on the drugs. I still take Singulair at night and I use Proventil as needed ,which isn't very often these days. I used to need it 3-4 times daily. I also use Flovent 2-puffs daily as a maintenance drug , I used to need 4-puffs twice a day. So if nothing else has come out of this at least my breathing is better. Except when the spasms are bad... you feel like you need your inhaler, but in actuality you don't and if I make the mistake of using it like I have a few times when I don't in fact need it ,I may get heart palpitations, which last for an hour or so. Good luck with your asthma allergy tx's, hope you are feeling well...MMN Last changed: January 11, 2008 |
