Eric, I had an endoscopy in September and was diagnosed with gastritis. At first, they weren't sure what caused it, but now their best guess is NSAID overuse. I never knew that using it more than a few days at a time, even once a day, is considered "heavy" use. I have been banned from NSAIDs for life by my gastroenterologist! I was on a 6 week therapeutic dose of Prevacid prior to the endoscopy and I tell you, it really helped. Almost 5 months later, I still cannot drink coffee or eat chocolate and have problems with spicy foods.. I don't know if this is ever going to go away. They didn't want to keep me on Prevacid for any longer, due to the fact the gastritis was mild at the time of endoscopy. Those NSAIDs can be very harsh; they also are responsible for some minor ulcerations in my colon, according to the doctors. Good Luck, stay away from the stong foods, at least for awhile. Has the sour taste in your mouth gone away? Mine is still here.. a real pain. Brushing my teeth, that flavor lasts maybe 10 minutes. Even had my teeth cleaned.. but to no avail.. sigh
