New to the message boardFrom: Jessica CommentsHi All - I'm new to the message board, although I have been reading your postings for quite some time. My husband had an endoscopy on Thursday and the biospy showed that he has Barrett's. Very strange because he never had any trouble with heartburn before and only went to the doctor because of a "lump in his throat" feeling that started in early Novemeber. Since November, he has been taking 15 mg of Provacid. Two weeks ago the doctor switched him to 20 mg of Aciphex - neither medication made one bit of difference. If he didn't take it, he didn't feel any better or worse. Anyway, I joined the board to find out more information, gather ideas and somehow learn to cope with this, since it doesn't appear to be going away anytime soon. I would love to hear from anybody who has Barrett's. My husband's symptoms just seems to be very different than any that I've read about. His chief compliant is the pain in his esophagus and that's it. We've tried all the things that are supposed to help: eliminated the "bad" foods, propped up the bed, etc., but nothing seems to give him relief. Thoughts, comments, suggestions are all welcome. Thanks, Jessica. Last changed: January 11, 2008 |
