Hi Debbie. I live in the Netherlands and I had an endoscopy done about a month ago. Standard procedure here is that patients do not get sedated but get a spray that numbs your throat. It wasn't a very enjoyable expierence, but I survived ;) In retrospect I probably would have chosen a sedation if I had the option. Judging from other posts at this board, the endoscopy with sedation is no big deal. Take care. Paul
