Barbara, I understand why you're in a hurry for surgery. Your symptoms sound terrible. Mine weren't as bad but still not tolerable. It was affecting my quality of life. After two months on meds I'm starting to feel better :) It takes usually 2-3 months. I'm on Prilosec 20 mg twice day. I really have concerns about longterm use of med and myself would consider surgery if there could be a cure. But surgery is not my first choice; partly because I'm a chicken..I have heard of people still feeling bad after surgery. But do what's best for you. As for your bed I've felt 100% better after getting legs of bed up (used phonebooks) Also have a wedge but it's not as effective; easy to move off or slide down while asleep. Make sure you have your last food intake by 6-7 pm don't eat anything near bedtime. Good luck
