in may of this year i developed some strange pains in my chest just under my breastbone radiating up into my left shoudler. i went to my doc he told i might have a stomach complaint,so he sent for a endoscopy which was clear except for a slight swelling of the stomach lining, which my doc diagnosed as gastritis he prescribed me 20mg losec a day for six weeks which i took and the pains went away and felt great...about 3 weeks ago the pains started returning this time with a vengance, nausea,queeziness and pain in my chest and left shoulder,so went to my doc again this time he sent me to e.r. to have an ecg and blood tests just to make sure it was nothin else, all of the tests came back clear after all this my doc told me that my gatritis had flared up again so he doubled my dose of losec to 40 mg a day and told me to take them for 2 weeks and come back to him if the pains have'nt cleared up i'm 40 years old and i'm pretty fit ,but i do smoke,my question is how long does gastritis take to to clear up,can one of its symptoms be pain in chest and shoulder(stabbing pains) and ive also been informed that if the gastritis clears up i'll still have to take losec for sometime as i need to be wheened of it. many thanks
