I was prescribed Pepcid 40mg twice a day when Prevacid did not work for me. Then my doctor added Nexium 40mg in AM. with the Pepcid. After two days I went to Nexium in AM and Pepcid in PM. Seems to be working...some occasional breakthrough heartburn. Also sometimes a doctor will want to do a 24hour gastric PH test and this can tell him how effective the medications are. for you.
