Hi Eric,
Know where you are coming from regarding the white tongue - no explanation from the Dr. Noticed that mine seems to be worse when the refluxing is worse.
In regards to the sore tongue, found out that I have also developed TMJ. In addition to grinding my teeth at night I also bite down on my tongue. Had no idea I was doing this until my dentist pointed out stress fractures in my enamel and actual teeth marks on my tongue. No wonder my jaw and tongue were always sore. I am now equipped with a night-time bite guard that has helped tremendously. Makes me feel like a 12 year old with a retainer, but it helps!!
While this might not be your problem, it is interesting to note that TMJ is common in people with gastro problems.
