it's my understanding a fundo repairs a hiatal hernia by wrapping the part of the stomach that pokes through the diaphragm around the esophagus. sounds like people typically experience gas build up problems and, sometimes, swallowing challenges. has anyone ever read why a surgeon can't go in, push herniated part of the stomach back into place and use some type of mesh to fill-in the gap between the diaphragm and esophagus? it seems i've heard of doctors using a type of mesh to repair regular hernias. anyway, sounds kind of silly, but i'm curious...
