I was born without an LES (or a UES for that matter). When I got my endoscopy results, the doctor told me I didn't have one. I asked if that mean it was destroyed by reflux, which I'd had for decades by then. He said no, it was a birth defect. Did you ask your doctor about why you don't have one?
Apparently it is very rare to be in this situation, because after that every doctor and surgeon I talked to would spend the first 3-4 minutes of my first appointment with them exclaiming about it.
A fundo fixed me up just fine, by the way, and I hope that you qualify for one too. I am still without a UES, of course.
