Lawrence, make sure before you jump to any conclusions that you have a complete work up by your GI doctor. You should be doing ultrasounds of your digestive organs, a barium study for your small intestine, possibly a liver cat scan. I say this because you are having serious GI symptoms.
I'm no doctor, but your symptoms require at least for all this stuff to be ruled out.
P.S. I know it's scary to lose that much weight in such a short period of time, but don't let that issue in itself cause you to panic. The first weeks of a problem like this make you lose the most weight. Don't 'project' this out in your mind to mean your going to lose 20 pounds every three weeks from now on - it doesn't work that way. I don't know how tall you are, but I'm a 6'3" man at 165' and my slenderness has nothing to do with my GI problem cause I've been that for my adult life when I didn't have the problem. You'll gain it back when you stabalize or get better.
Hang in there and keep pressing your GI doc, or find another one if it's not wokring out.
