HI I'm 38 years old. Two years ago I was diagnosed with rather large (9 cm) sliding hiatus hernia and GERD. Was on Prilosec (20mg twice a day). 6 months ago switched to Prevacid, 30mg twice a day (Prilosec became less effective). Now I'm having these episodes of chest pain. They start in the middle of the chest and move to the back and arms. The pain is not localized. This may go on for several days before subsiding. It is also accompanied with ill feeling and sometimes stomach discomfort (no pain). There is no heartburn. Last night the pain was so bad I went to the ER. They did and EKG which came out normal. The doc sent me home saying it wasn't my heart or any other severe problem. What could be causing this pain? It is not very severe, however it is disturbing and I'm so preoccupied with it I can hardly work or function. I have a meeting with my gastroenterologist next Monday. Any idea what I should ask him ?
