ask your gastroenterologist about the vagus nerve... from what I understand this nerve runs the length of the esophagus and when acid irritates it in the esophagus it can cause chest pain, rapid pusle, and other feelings of unwellness. Search the boards here also, many people here are sharing your symptoms of chest pain with their reflux. The bottom line however is always have the heart checked out first or at least also along with the reflux. Most people on the board with similar symptoms find out they have reflux behind the chest pain but it really is important to rule other problems like heart problems out, which your GI or primary care doc should be able to help you do. Best wishes.
