Hi Jill...thanks for posting. So few people have worn a monitor to actually record the event. The theories that have been developed thus far seem to indicate that irritation to the esophagus can enervate the Vagus nerve. According to the powers to be, the Vagus should either slow down the heartbeat or speed it up but not cause skipped beats. However, since we are in the realm of uncharted waters I suspect that it can also cause skipped beats. Prilosec resolved my problem and it does not return unless I overeat..then it is just a little bit. Since I know what it is I do not panic and everything is fine.
