Jill, According to the Center For Voice Disorders of Wake Forest University <http://www.bgsm.edu/voice/reflux_voice.html> Zantac can be given 150mg four times a day up to 300mg three times a day. In the event this doesn't work it should be replaced with a PPI like Prilosec 20mg twice a day for 6 months. Surgery is their last option.

I get irritation and hoarseness 1-2 times a week and have been taking Pepcid 40mg BID. My doctor added Mexium 40mg before supper one week ago. After thinking this was working I ended up having hoarseness last night. Disappointing. Good Luck to you.
