Something that I forgot to mention was that there are a few doctors out there that think there is a causal link between upper respiratory infections and gerd. Dr. Koufman asked me if I had had a URI within the past year or two and said that there is a link between that and gerd (the virus causing vagal nerve neuropathy). He told me that this is new thinking that hasn't caught on yet.
I read EAP's posting below with great interest and then began to wonder how many of us had a virus prior to the onset of gerd -- how many of us have spouses with gerd. My husband has had a chronic sore throat and a cough for months. Sympathy gerd?? Hmmmmm.
