Hi- YES YES YES! My husband and I both got very sick on a trip to Hawaii - with a sore throat kind of flu. We were sick for at least two weeks, and then, it appeared to come back again!
I had a concert to sing 90 days from then, and went to the ENT and was put on antibiotics and mucous thinning stuff so I could sing. That was the first time anybody looked at my vocal cords, and all he saw was mucous, and lots of it.
My concert was in May ---- that October, 5 months later, I had my first "official" diagnosis of GERD, and I have always wondered if it wasn't caused by the illness -----and I have also wondered if that isn't why GERD is becoming so epidemic --- that it was actually a virus, like herpes or whatever. Very interesting thinking at Wake Forest! I will have to follow that research! thanks!
