Yesterday's Los Angeles Times had an announcement for a heartburn clinical trial at UCLA which is currently recruiting.
It says, "UCLA CURE Clinical Trials Unit seeks volunteers over 18 years of age, who experience persistent recurrent heartburn (a burning sensation in the throat or chest) and associated injury of the esophagus, for a 3-4 week research study.
The purpose of the research is to evaluate how different forms of Prevacid affect stomach acid production. Qualified volunteers will receive financial compensation and an additional 8 weeks of treatment with Prevacid 30 mg after study completion, at no cost.
For more information please contact Mary or Robyn at: (310)312-9283"
This sounds rather interesting. I wonder what different forms of Prevacid they have? Maybe something that is a derivative(?)/or developed from Prevacid similar to the way Nexium was developed from Prilosec? It might be a study worth pursuing, especially for those without insurance who need a PPI.
