Hi Margie
I'm 6 weeks post op and I'm eating pretty much everything with the exceptions of certain foods like bread and meats that have a tendicy to sick and get stuck in my esophagus a little more. You have to understand that I've been through HELL the first time around(could not even swallow liquids and pills without having them get stuck and I lost 40lbs. With te redo I'm able to eat a whole lot better except for what I had mentioned before. I feel that this will never go away because of what I went through the first time. Everybody said that it takes time for the swelling to go down. Some people weeks, some people months.I waited the first time around about 3 months constantly loosing weight. Then had 8 dilitations which did not help so you see why I'm negative about this aspect, even though I can swallow better now after the second Nissen. Margie, what was your recovery like? Did you go through what I went through the second and not the first time around with the Nissen? Did the swallowing, if you had any problems at all, go away in time? Are you still on MEDS. I'm still on MEDS because I have Gastritis, but the surgeon said that now that everything is in line(My esophagus with my stomach), it should clear up because they are working together now. Please e-mail me if you could with your information on post op Nissen.
Thanks,
Nick
