Hi Ron:

You brought up some excellent points, especially in my case. 3 years post op and although reflux is no longer "there", I still have muscle related vocal cord pain, helped somewhat by speech therapy. I have many "good" days, and I kinda hate to treat the bad days with taking medication every SINGLE day. Like shooting mosquitoes with a cannon.

Besides the worry about the weight gain, I am also concerned about just plain old putting more drugs in my body......so although I have a prescription for very low dose neurontin, I am going to try acupuncture first this summer. If indeed what is left in the aftermath of GERD and surgery for me is muscle tension dysphonia(what the docs think it is) then maybe something like acupuncture will help -----it's certainly worth a try! The last thing I want to do is compromise my LES repair by "relaxing" it ---gadzooks!

Have a good day! Sharon
